Two semi accident under investigation in Franklin Co

A two semi accident in Franklin County is under investigation. Shortly before 1:00pm on Wednesday October 2, 2024; Campbell Fire and Rescue and Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies were requested for the accident west of Campbell. Hildreth Fire and Rescue, Upland Fire, and Bladen Fire and Rescue were also summoned to the scene.

Sheriff Bryon Detlefsen says the preliminary investigation indicates a Peterbilt semi was turning east on Highway 4 from 43 road when it was struck by a Freightliner semi traveling west on Highway 4. The Freightliner collided with the trailer of the Peterbilt and came to rest in the south ditch and caught fire. The Peterbilt also came to rest in the south ditch.

One driver was transported by Campbell ambulance and the other driver was transported by private vehicle. As of early last evening, Sheriff Detelefsen says the condition of the drivers was not known. Webster County Sheriffs Office also assisted with traffic control.
