A York man faces multiple charges following a brief pursuit with two minor children in the back seat. According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, a Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an SUV around 11:00pm Saturday. The SUV failed to yield and a pursuit ensued in the community until the SUV stopped. The driver, 36-year-old Randy Kermoade of York was taken into custody without further incident.
Sgt. Taylor Samek says two minor children were located in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. It was later determined that neither child was wearing a seat belt during the pursuit but, both were unharmed. One child was returned to a parent and the other was placed in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
Kermoade was lodged at York County Corrections on numerous charges including:
· Child Abuse
· Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest
· No Proof of Insurance
· Driving under Suspension
· Willful Reckless Driving
· Vehicle Lighting Violation
· Possession of Marijuana less than 1oz
· Seatbelt Violation
· Stop Sign Violation
· Driving Left of Center
· Failure to Signal
· Speeding
