Troopers Locate 44 LBs of Marijuana in I-80 Traffic Stop

(York, Neb.)  — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested one person after locating over 40 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop on I-80.

Thursday at approximately 9:00 a.m., a trooper performed a traffic stop on a Kia Forte for driving on the shoulder on I-80 near York. During the traffic stop, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.

A search of the vehicle revealed 44 pounds of marijuana located in suitcases in the trunk of the car. The driver, Luis Frias Alcantara, 30, of the Dominican Republic, was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana (more than one pound). He was lodged in York County Jail.
