Lexington-For a second straight week Lexington came up just short in their quest to win for the first time since 2022. After losing on opening night to Holdrege, this time around they fell to Platteview 20-14. The Trojans dominated early scoring on two short runs on their first two possessions to lead 14-0 at the end of the 1st.

The game turned around when Lexington freshman Tyler Thorell rushed 28 yards on a fake punt to keep Lexington’s drive alive. Jayden Throell would finish that drive off with a seven yard td run and the Minutemen then trailed it 14-7. On Lexington’s next possession Ceasar Cano plunged in from three yards out to tie the score at 14.

In the second half neither team did much on offense, but in the 3rd after a Lexington fumble at their own 17, Stanford recruit Reiman Zebert would race in from 14 yards out to give the Trojans a 20-14 advantage. After make a stop inside their own ten yard line, Lexington had one more chance late in the 4th quarter. Cano made a big catch down to the Platteview 25 yard line with 40 seconds left, but Thorell was intercepted near the goal line and the Trojans ran out the clock. Platteview improved to 2-0, while Lexington is now 0-2 and will play next week at GINW.
