April 12, 2024 (Seward, NE.) On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, a deputy with the Seward County Interdiction Task Force conducted a traffic stop for a violation of the Nebraska Rules of the Road on a Dodge Caravan near MM 388 eastbound I80. During the traffic stop, the deputy became increasingly suspicious that the driver, the sole occupant, was involved in criminal activity. A K9 was deployed for an exterior sniff of the van. As a result, a probable cause search of the van was conducted. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located 4 kilograms of a substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Jan M Schoening, 44, of Sheboygan, WI, was taken into custody without incident as a result of this traffic stop. Schoening was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance/Cocaine with Intent to Deliver and additional drug charges. Schoening was remanded to the Seward County Detention Center pending further court action.

On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, a deputy with the Seward County Interdiction Task Force conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle and traffic violation on a Chevy Colorado pickup near MM 369 eastbound I80. During the course of the traffic stop, a discretionary K9 sniff was conducted which yielded a positive indication to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent probable cause search of the pickup was conducted and approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine was located.

Kevin C Haddix, 58, of Omaha, NE, was taken into custody without incident as a result of this traffic stop. Haddix was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance/Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver and other drug related offenses. Haddix was lodged at the Seward County Detention Center pending further court action.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, a deputy with the Seward County Interdiction Task Force attempted to stop a Kia Sedona that had previously been reported stolen out of the state of Iowa. The operator of the vehicle failed to comply with the emergency lights and siren of the deputy’s patrol vehicle, and a police pursuit ensued. The vehicle exited I-80 and fled southbound into Saline County. The vehicle turned onto a dead-end road where the pursuit concluded without further incident.


At the conclusion of the pursuit, Bradley W. Worthington, 39, of Omaha, NE, was taken into custody by members of the Seward and Saline County Sheriff’s Offices. Worthington was charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Operate Motor Vehicle/Avoid Arrest, and numerous other pending warrants from other jurisdictions. Worthington was lodged at the Seward County Detention Center pending further court action.
