Three charged in Lexington assault of man

Three young adults have been charged in an assault on a man at a Lexington apartment complex. It was reported around 1:17am Saturday October 19, 2024 at 9th and Erie Streets. Lexington Police officers responded to the scene and summoned a rescue unit for a 28-year-old man who had “major facial trauma” according to an arrest affidavit. The man was transported to Lexington Regional Health Center by a family member who witnessed the assault. A doctor at LRHC indicated the man may have suffered a brain bleed.

The witness told officers that three people showed up to the apartment looking for the man when they pulled him out into the hallway and began physically assaulting him. The victim fell to the floor and the three subjects kicked and punched him while he was on the floor.

The three suspects were soon located in the suspect vehicle at the residence it was registered. They were taken into custody on suspicion of 1st Degree Assault. There were 18-year-old Alejandro Leyva of Lexington, 19-year-old Amaya Ureste of Omaha and 21-year-old Alexis Ureste of Cozad.

Leyva was arraigned in Dawson County Court Monday morning on charges of 1st Degree Assault, Felony Child Abuse and Disturbing the peace.

Amaya Ureste is charged with 1st Degree Assault, Misdemeanor Child Abuse and Disturbing the Peace.

Alexis Ureste is charged with 1st Degree Assault, Misdemeanor Child Abuse and Disturbing the Peace.

Bonds for all three were set at $200,000 and each were scheduled for preliminary hearing Dawson County Court.

Leyva is also facing charges of Stalking, Third Degree Sexual Assault and First Degree Trespass from an unrelated incident in Lexington reported on October 6, 2024.
