In Gothenburg the Swedes volleyball program hopes to keep things rolling. Last season Gothenburg finished 3rd at the Class C1 state tournament with an outstanding 34-3 record. It was Gothenburg’s third straight trip to the state tourney. This year Gothenburg will look to reload and head coach Bryson Mahlberg previews the season with KRVN’s Jayson Jorgensen.
Leading the way for the Swedes will be Taryn O’Hare who had 287 kills last season. Also in the middle is 6’2 Whitney Cottingham who had over 100 kills last year and 37 blocks. Grace Evert who saw playing time last year as a freshman is also expected to be a key contributor. Other returning letterwinners include, Lindly Anderson, Peyton Hilbers and Joey Holland. Gothenburg starts the season on Thursday night by hosting Cozad.
