McCool Junction, Neb. — A man driving a car allegedly stolen in McCool Junction was arrested early Tuesday and placed in the York County Jail.

A York County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation at approximately 2:30 a.m., but the driver refused and a pursuit was initiated. Shortly after the chase began, the vehicle lost control and went into the ditch near the intersection of Road 3 and 1st Street in McCook Junction.

The driver of the vehicle, Skylar Wiese (Wees), 29, of York was taken into custody without further incident.

An investigation revealed that Wiese entered a residence in McCool Junction and stole the vehicle he was driving shortly before being contacted by the deputy and the subsequent pursuit.

Wiese was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft by receiving stolen property, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and driving during revocation.
