Interview with Fire Chief Phillip Schroeder

A small grass fire about two to three miles north of Miller was handled quickly Wednesday afternoon. It was reported at 12:11pm and under control at 1:02pm. It started in the ditch along the west side of Highway 183 near 310th Road and extended a little bit into a pasture.

Miller Fire Chief Phillip Schroeder says the cause is unknown but, it burned about 4 to 5 acres. Schroeder says Miller handled the fire but, had some assitance with a grass rig from Eddyville. The Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control.

Schroeder said it was a quick response by firefighters and they work well with each other as well as with other fire departments as they practice together.
