The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a semi involved in a hit and run accident last week on Road 761, also known as the old Cozad highway. It was reported around 4:30pm on Tuesday August 22, 2023. A westbound Chevy Spark, was attempting a left-hand turn onto Road 429 when a semi attempted to pass but, rear-ended the car. A man and a two-year-old child in the car were not injured. The semi did not stop and left the scene. Sheriff Mark Montgomery says the semi left 475′ of skid marks on the pavement before the impact.

Sheriff Montgomery is hopeful anyone with information on the semi would contact the Sheriff’s Office at 308-324-3011. The semi-tractor was described as white or possibly white with blue, older semi pulling a white grain trailer. It lost a large piece of a chrome cattle guard and two silver lug nut covers at the accident scene.
