SEM continues winning ways at Shelton

Shelton-Behind a lethal running game SEM eventually pulled away and beat Shelton on Thursday night 52-24. The big story was Mustang running back Maddox Jones who rushed for 195 yards on 18 carries and scored six touchdowns. SEM scored on all five of its first half possessions as Jones scored on runs of 13, 48, 27 and 1 yards as they built a 38-18 lead at the half. Emanuel Guido had the other touchdown in the first half on a two yard run for the Mustangs.

In the second half, Jones got lose for a 23 yard score and a 15 yard td. Jones also led SEM on defense with six tackles while Isaac O’neill had five. Shelton hung around early in the first half and trailed just 14-12 in the first quarter, after Riley Jensen scored from 65 yards out on a trap play. He would score again in the first half on a 21 yard td pass from Justin Wiehn. Shelton’s final score came in the third quarter when Ben Myers hit Wiehn on a 34 yard pass. The victory is the 15th in a row for the Mustangs dating back to 2023. Shelton fell to 0-2 on the season.
