LEXINGTON – Scottsbluff capitalized on over 500 yards of offense to down Lexington 56-7 Friday night.

Scottsbluff took an early lead on a long first drive of the game that was capped off by quarterback Nate Kelley’s’ 3 yard rushing touchdown. That first score set the tone for the night as the Bearcats would score on every drive except two. Lexington tried to respond on their first drive, but an interception thrown to Kelley would set up Scottsbluff near midfield where they would then find the endzone five plays later on a Dawson Barrett rushing score. Scottsbluff would score four more touchdowns in the first half. Desmonde Smith would run in for a 14 yard, 43 yard and 25 yard rushing touchdowns. Sebastian Galindo would also score on a 31 yard rushing touchdown. The Bearcats defense would nab one more interception in the second quarter while also missing a 35 yard field goal try.

Lexington’s best drive came early in the third quarter as they marched down the field on their opening drive. Cesar Cano would find the endzone on a 38 yard rushing touchdown. It would be the lone score for the Minutemen. Scottsbluff would score two more times; a 9 yard rushing touchdown pass by Carter Meyer and a 37 yard rushing touchdown by Eric Sabala.

Scottsbluff would finish with 501 total yards. The Bearcats ran for 402 yards while passing for 99 yards. Individually, Smith led Scottsbluff with 155 yards and three touchdowns. Kelley was 3-4 for 90 yards through the air, ran for 47 yards and one rushing score. In the loss, Lexington mustered 131 yards of total offense. 92 came on the ground with 39 through the air. Cano led the Minutemen with 19 carries for 96 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Thorell was 2-4 passing for 15 yards and one interception.
