KEARNEY, Neb. (November 17, 2022) – The Salvation Army of Kearney is set to kick off its 2022 Red Kettle
Campaign during Thanksgiving week. Starting Friday, November 25, its iconic red kettles will begin popping up all over town.

“Donations to Salvation Army red kettles are critically important, especially during these challenging economic times,” said Envoy Steven Dahl of The Salvation Army of Kearney. “Those donations make it possible for us to carry out our mission to serve those in need around the area—both during the holiday season and throughout the rest of the year.”

Specifically, kettle donations fund a variety of social services, from providing food and utility-bill assistance to breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty and more. This year’s campaign theme is “Love Beyond.”

What’s more, donating at red kettles is easier and more convenient than ever. In addition to taking coin and paper-money donations, red kettles are also equipped to take digital donations via Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. This array of options allows donors to make fast, secure donations online by simply taking out their smartphones and scanning a QR code on a sign posted above the red kettle.

Can’t make it out to a red kettle to make a donation? Just go online to kearneyredkettle.org, where you can make a fast, secure online donation from anywhere you might be.

All donations stay local and go toward helping those in need in the Kearney community.

At the same time, Dahl said, the organization is also looking for volunteers to ring the bells at Kearney-area kettles. Anyone wishing to sign up to ring the bells can just go to registertoring.com and do so online.

Salvation Army Angel Tree Program Now Underway at Local Walmart Store

The Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree holiday-gift program is now up and running at the Walmart in Kearney. This unique program features a large Christmas tree set up near the front of the store—with a variety of children’s wish-list items written on paper tabs hanging from the branches. Shoppers can simply stop by the tree, pick a tab off the tree, buy the gift listed on the tab, and then shop for the gift right inside the store. Upon leaving the store, shoppers can drop their newly-purchased gifts into a collection box near the tree. Donated gifts are then distributed by The Salvation Army to local families in need in December.
