BURWELL – A highway worker was hospitalized after a multivehicle accident Tuesday on Highway 91.
The Nebraska State Patrol says the incident happened around 8:35 a.m. Tuesday between Taylor and Burwell. Preliminary investigation shows that three vehicles were stopped at a construction zone. A fourth vehicle failed to stop and caused a chain reaction crash.
The vehicle attempted to swerve, but hit the rear of a trailer being pulled by a pickup. It then struck the first vehicle in the line and the roadway flagger.
The flagger was transported to the hospital in Ord then flown to a Kearney hospital with serious injuries. The driver was taken to the Ord hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
