UPDATE: Abduction and hostage-taking inquiry taken over by federal authorities

UPDATE: The Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office in McCook reported Sunday evening that the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has been asked to and has taken over the investigation of a reported abduction and hostage-taking reported on Saturday. The situation began with the victim’s abduction from a bar in Oklahoma. The victim was held captive until he was able to escape in Decatur County, Kansas. Authorities are focusing on specific suspects and are attempting to locate them.

Public Safety Notice: Red Willow Sheriff’s Office, McCook PD as well as agencies bordering Kansas are actively assisting Decatur County/Oberlin with an ongoing investigation of an abduction and holding a hostage from Oberlin.

The victim was recovered after escaping at around 11:55 Saturday, north of Oberlin. Kansas authorities are currently searching for a blue or green older model mini van with Oklahoma plates.

The vehicle is occupied by a white male about 5’6 bald with a long brown beard and tattoos on his chest, second is a black male 5’10” and chubby with a mustache and goatee and face tattoos. They are considered armed and dangerous.

DO NOT APPROACH, immediately call law enforcement, and provide as much detail as possible, but stay safe. I will update as information becomes available.
