Preferred Candidate for President of the University of Nebraska Dr. Jeffery Gold Continues Vetting Period Forums

KEARNEY, NEB-On March 20th the Nebraska Board of Regents announced that their preferred candidate for the University of Nebraska System president was Dr. Jeff Gold. He must go through a 30-day vetting process meeting with students, faculty, and staff among others before being able to become the system president.

On April 12th he was on the Campus of UNK meeting with the aforementioned groups on UNK’s campus. He spoke on his background and fielded questions from the public both in person and people chiming in on a Zoom call.

He spoke on his potential role in the desire of the Board of Regents for the University of Nebraska Lincoln to be reinvited to the AAU after being asked to leave in 2011.

He also touched on the value and importance that agriculture brings to both the state and the University system

Dr. Gold is the current Provost, Executive Vice President, and Chief Academic Officer of the University of Nebraska system as well as the Chancellor of UNMC. The 30-day vetting period lines up with a scheduled board of regents meeting on April 19th where it is expected for them to make a final decision on DR. Gold’s potential Presidency.
