A boat outing at Johnson Lake took a wrong turn over the weekend. It happened around 9:34am Sunday at Johnson Lake’s Outlet Canal. Two Lincoln residents were in the process of launching a boat down a boat ramp when their vehicle and trailer rolled backwards into the canal.

Gosper County Sheriff Jesse Naputi says the driver of the pickup exited it during the launching process. It’s suspected that the driver failed to place the vehicle into Park prior to exiting the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled backwards with the trailer attached and both the vehicle and trailer became completely submerged in the Outlet canal.

The Lexington Volunteer Fire Department Dive Team was called to assist the towing service with attaching the tow cables to the vehicle. There were no injuries.
