NORTH PLATTE – The North Platte St. Pat’s boys used a physical and strong defensive performance to handle Overton 69-44 in the D1-1 District Final Monday night.

What started out to be a competitive first quarter and a few leads by Overton, it would soon turn into a one sided contest after St. Pat’s went on a late first quarter run to grab an eight point lead. A lead they would grow to double digits and wouldn’t relinquish the rest of the game. The Eagles struggled to score in the first half as they were held to 10 points in the first quarter and six in the second, trailing 34-16 at the half. Overton would find some offensive success in the third quarter, but St. Pat’s seemingly always had an answer and still outscored the Eagles 17-16, essentially wrapping up the game.

In the win, three separate St. Pat’s players scored double figures, led by Logan Winder’s 18 points. Brecken Erickson scored 16 and Sutton Tickle added 10 points. In the loss, Brock McCarter led Overton with 16 points and scored 11 in the third period. Eli Luther chipped in 15 points. The Eagles finished with 15 turnovers.

St. Pat’s is headed to state for the fifth year in a row and are aiming to play in the state title game for the third straight season. Overton ended the year 13-12, their first winning season since 2018-2019.
