An Orleans man is facing charges after a shooting at an RV park in Harlan County.

Christopher Haunton, 47, is charged with Attempted 1st-Degree Murder, Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony, and Criminal Mischief.

An arrest affidavit indicates on the evening of August 15, Haunton was hanging out
with a group of people at his house in Orleans.

A witness reported during the night, Haunton attacked one of the men, and one of
Haunton’s dogs also attacked the witness.

Court records say the fight ended, and they all left, with the witness heading back
to his camper.

Early the next morning, the witness reported waking up to gunshots, and said he
saw Haunton standing at the entryway of the camper and pointing a gun towards
him.

According to the affidavit, investigators found around seven bullets fired from the
gun near where the victim had been sleeping.

Court records show Haunton’s bond was set at $500,000.

On Friday, Haunton waived his preliminary hearing, and he will be arraigned on the
charges in Harlan County District Court on a later date.
