Ogallala, Neb. — One man is dead and another man has been arrested in his death. According to a release from the Keith County Attorney’s Office, the Ogallala Police Department was called to 411 West 6th Street on Tuesday, April 9, regarding a young man who had been shot and was unconscious.
Upon arrival, Ogallala Police Officers were able to determine that Jeremiah VanLinda, age 24, appeared to have been shot by Chet Stenzel with a Mossberg International 715T semi-automatic rifle. Keith County EMS responded to the scene and informed officers that VanLinda was deceased.
The Ogallala Police Department is being assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol Investigative Team.
After an initial investigation and discussion with witnesses, Chet Stenzel has been taken into custody for Murder in the 2nd degree along with other charges.
