Omaha, Neb. — Kellogg’s plans to close its cereal plant in Omaha by the end of 2026 and reduce production at another facility in Memphis as it plans to improve productivity at other facilities in North America.

The Michigan-based cereal maker’s Omaha plant has been in operation for more than 60 years.

The company announced in a media release on its second quarter financial results and future plans of supply chain modernization that it will invest in new infrastructure at its Battle Creek, Michigan; Belleville, Ontario; and Lancaster, Pennsylvania plants, and plans to increase production at those locations.

The company says about 550 employees will be let go as a result of the consolidation. The Omaha plant will begin a phased reduction in production from late 2025 with a complete closing at the end of 2026. The Memphis plant will also begin reducing production late next year.
