Lexington, Neb. — An autopsy confirms there is no reason to suspect foul play in the death of a man found lying in an alley next to a building in downtown Lexington.

A person driving through the alley thought the man was sleeping and requested that authorities check his welfare.

Lexington Police Department along with Lexington Fire and Rescue were called at 6:15 p.m. Thursday on a report of a man who appeared to be passed out lying next to a building in the alley in the 100 block of west 6th Street. They determined the subject was deceased.

The scene was processed by the Lexington Police Department. The investigation has revealed the 39-year-old male was not from the United States, but was homeless in the Lexington area for the past one to two months. He has been identified, but his identity is still being withheld pending family notification. The Lexington Police Department is actively searching for any family.

Evidence at the scene coupled with preliminary autopsy findings suggest the subject had rear head injuries, presumably from a backwards fall.

The Lexington Police Department is continuing to conduct a follow-up investigation.
