Nebraska State Fair celebrates Veterans Day on September 2

The Nebraska State Fair Veterans Day Committee is gearing up for a special Veterans Day celebration on Labor Day, honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. This event is part of the Fair’s ongoing commitment to recognizing and celebrating the sacrifices and contributions of our veterans.

Veteran’s Day Highlights:

  • Free Admission for Veterans and Active-Duty Military: On September 2, all veterans and active-duty military personnel will receive free admission to the State Fair when they provide their military ID at the gate.
  • Veterans Recognition Ceremony: A formal ceremony to honor our veterans will take place at the Heartland Event Center at Fonner Park beginning at 10 a.m. This ceremony will honor and celebrate our Nebraska Veterans. This program will feature a keynote speech, choral performance, and music by the Heartland of America Raptor Band.
  • Heroes of 76 Flag Presentation: A brief history of flags that have flown over the United States of America will be given at Earl May Fair Square at 12 p.m.
  • Patriotic Parade: The celebration will continue with a patriotic parade starting at 1 p.m. The parade will feature local veterans’ organizations, military vehicles. The parade route will weave through the fairgrounds, providing a perfect opportunity for everyone to show their support of these brave me and women.
  • Live Entertainment: Throughout the day, the fairgrounds will feature live music and entertainment dedicated to our veterans. Performances will include a slate of local talent as well as a special concert by USAF Heartland American Raptor Band.
  • Veterans’ Resource Fair: Located in the Heartland Event Center, this fair will provide veterans and their families with access to valuable resources and information. Representatives from various organizations will be on hand to offer support and answer questions related to veterans’ benefits, healthcare, employment, and more. This begins at 9:30 a.m.
  • Nebraska Army National Guard Helicopter Display: Don’t forget to stop by and check out National Guard’s transportation equipment! This takes place at the Main Gate entrance by the Nebraska building from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Veterans Day Committee is inviting everyone from across the state to celebrate Veterans Day at the Nebraska State Fair. Join them in making this a day to remember for veterans while expressing gratitude for their service and dedication to our nation.
