Omaha, Neb. — The price of regular unleaded gas in Nebraska declined four-tenths of a cent over the past week to settle on just under $3.32 per gallon on Sunday according to AAA (Triple A). That’s up 14 cents from $3.18 one-month ago.

AAA pegged the national average on Sunday at $3.59, up about 6 cents from one-week ago, and up about 19 cents from one month ago.

AAA spokesman Andrew Gross said it’s suprising there hasn’t been a larger increase lately, considering some concerning overseas news, a pop in domestic gasoline demand, and oil prices rising to the mid-$80s per barrel.

Gross said, “renewed Ukranian attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure and increasing tension in the Middle East spiked oil prices recently.” Gross continued, “And with the cost of oil accounting for roughly 60% of what we pay at the pump, there will likely be some upward pressure on prices.”
