Triple A says 43.8 million of us will travel 50 miles or more over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, a four-percent increase over last year and just shy of 2005’s high of 44-million.
Most of us will travel by car with pump prices hovering nationally, around $3.60 per gallon, for regular unleaded.
Airports are also bracing for a spike of over 3 & 1/2 million travelers, that’s an almost 5% increase from last year and a 9% increase from 2019. Nearly 2-million people are expected to travel by bus, cruises and trains.
