Lincoln- Just ten days before the start of the season, reports have surfaced that the Nebraska football program is under investigation for NCAA violations, according to a report from Brett McMurphy. Head coach Scott Frost is among those under investigation for improper use of analysts and consultants during practices and games, per the report. The actions, while not specific, were “egregious” according to numerous media outlets. These actions took place during special teams drills at practices. Nebraska is under investigation for improper use during practices and games, according to McMurphy. Nebraska Athletic Director Trev Alberts released this statement after the story broke. “The University of Nebraska Athletic Department has been working collaboratively with the NCAA to review a matter concerning our football program. We appreciate the dialogue we have had with the NCAA and cannot comment further on specifics of this matter.”


It is also being widely reported that “Frost has obtained legal counsel, and the NCAA has interviewed Frost, multiple current and former staff members, administration and football players regarding the allegations, sources said,” According to McMurphy “The allegations date back 12 months. Also, last year when the NCAA prohibited organized athletic activities because of the pandemic. Nebraska aslo reportedly moved its strength workouts to an undisclosed off-campus location to avoid detection by non-football school officials, sources said. Among the possible NCAA penalties Nebraska could face include Frost’s suspension for an unknown number of games, an NCAA source said. Nebraska is set to kickoff the year at Illinois on Saturday, Aug. 28th.
