SEWARD, Neb. – On February 16, 2024, the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services met with representatives of the Nebraska National Guard and Nebraska National Guard Historical Society to renew the lease for the museum site until 2029.

The museum relocated from Lincoln to Seward in 2014, into a former National Guard armory. Its mission is to collect, access, preserve, store, account for, and value historical artifacts and records for Nebraska’s military history and heritage of its Citizen-Soldiers and Airmen.

The museum’s goal is to educate and “tell the story” of the members of the Army and Air Guard and share the heritage of the Nebraska National Guard in times of peace and war.

“The Pillen Administration is pleased to offer its continued support for the Nebraska National Guard Museum in Seward. The Museum and the Seward community work greatly together to tell the story of the heroic Nebraskans that have served our nation,” said DAS Director Jason Jackson.

“This museum is a gem for the state of Nebraska. It highlights our heritage and demonstrates our honorable legacy of service,” said Maj. Gen. Craig Strong, Nebraska National Guard adjutant general. “This year we are celebrating 10 years of a fantastic partnership, which we are proud to continue.”

The Nebraska National Guard Museum is hosting its annual “Night at the Museum” Tuesday, Feb. 27, with musical entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by a short program at 7.
