BROKEN BOW – The public is invited to a special musical performance on the 4th of July as the Nebraska National Guard’s 43rd Army Band will be playing a free concert at Melham Park in Broken Bow.

Paul Kenney is in his 20th year as a member of the band and his fifth as the director. He said the group is made up entirely of members of the Army National Guard.

Because of the Guard’s training schedule, Kenney said the group has limited time to practice together.

He shared what attendees of the show can expect from the group.

The 4th of July concert will begin at 7 p.m. at Melham Park ahead of the Broken Bow Volunteer Fire Department’s annual fireworks display. In the event of inclement weather the performance would move indoors to the Broken Bow Municipal Building.

The Broken Bow concert is the first of the band’s summer concert series, which will also include performances in Ogallala July 5, McCook July 6, North Platte July 7, Cozad July 8 and Gothenburg July 10.

All of the shows are free to attend.
