Lexington High School Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Artemio Munoz as the next Minutemaid head girls soccer coach. Coach Munoz has been an assistant coach for the LHS Boys soccer team for the last two years. According to Activities Director Phil Truax “Munoz’s experience as a player, NSAA certified official, and soccer coach from youth leagues all the way up to the high School level will serve our soccer program well heading into the future.” Coach Munoz is a 1999 graduate from Lexington and he started at goal keeper for the Minutemen on the first Lexington boys soccer squad that season.

After graduation from Lexington High School, Artemio began his employment at the IBP plant in Lexington, working in the processing area. Artemio worked at IBP for two years, before beginning a career in agriculture, starting with Dawson Feeders. He continues to work in agriculture, farming his own ground, and working for local farmer Joey Robison.

Munoz found his way into coaching for the Lexington Unifut program (Lexington’s Youth Soccer Organization). He coached several youth soccer teams, both boys and girls, for 10 years.

In his two years as an assistant for the Lexington boys he helped the Minutemen to the state tournament the last two years and a Class B state runner up finish this past spring. He replaces Jesse Hall who was head coach this past spring for the Minutemaids.
