More information has been released by the York County Sheriff’s Office concerning the collision around 8:30pm Friday at the Highway 81 and Highway 34 East Junction which claimed the lives of three people is being released. The three individuals who were pronounced dead at the scene were all located in the SUV and were identified as the following:
- Randall Wheeler (62) of York, NE
- Janniee Wheeler (69) of York, NE
- Rita Beins (70) of Lincoln, NE
There were also three additional people who were injured during this collision. Two were located in the semi-truck and the third was located in the SUV. All three individuals were transported from the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation into the collision shows that the semi-truck was headed northbound on Highway 81 approaching the Highway 34 East Junction when the SUV pulled out in front of the semi-truck causing the collision. The investigation into the collision is being conducted by the York County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol.
