Kearney, Neb. – Forward Shiloh McCool and point guard Jillian Aschoff represent Nebraska-Kearney on the 2023-24 All-MIAA women’s basketball team.

The league’s 14 head coaches vote on the makeup of the squad and cannot vote for their own players.

McCool (Pleasant Hill, Ia.) is on the second team for a second straight season with Aschoff (Lincoln Pius X) named honorable mention. This is her first All-MIAA recognition.

A graduate student and a rare sixth-year Loper, McCool heads into the MIAA Tournament at 13.9 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 46% from the field. She leads UNK in scoring, rebounds, free throws made and attempted and is tied for first in blocks (15). Having 14 doubles doubles to date, McCool is second in school history in rebounds (965) and 11th in scoring (1,455). Finally, she’ll play in her 150th game Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the MIAA’s.

Aschoff took over starting PG duties this season and is currently averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.8 assists, and 1.9 steals per game. Shooting 80% at the line, she has posted six doubles doubles and needs just 17 more assists to break Hall of Famer Jennfer Warner’s record (177/1995-96).  Besides leading the Lopers in both assists and steals, she is second in rebounds, tied for third in scoring, is third in free throw percentage and fourth in threes made.

UNK (18-10) is the seventh seed in the MIAA Tournament and faced 10th-seeded Washburn (13-15) Wednesday at 2:15 p.m. in Kansas City in a first-round game. The Lopers beat the Ichabods, 75-74 in overtime, back on January 27 on Buckle Court.
