Marijuana seized on Interstate 80 in Dawson Co

Nebraska State Patrol seized about 74 pounds of Marijuana following a traffic stop on Interstate 80. It took place shortly before 2:00pm Tuesday August 13, 2024 about three miles west of the Lexington interchange. A trooper noted an eastbound vehicle with no front license plate.

While contacting the driver from the passenger side of the vehicle, the trooper “immediately detected the strong odor of Marijuana emitting from the vehicle”. The arrest affidavit further states that the driver, identified as 27-year-old Francisco Snachez-Armas of Sunnyvale, CA, was placed in the patrol vehicle while a search was conducted. The Marijuana was located in the back seat and trunk of the vehicle, a 2017 Cadillac ATS. One ounce of Marijuana was located in the center console.

Sanchez-Aramas was arraigned in Dawson County Court Wednesday on felony charges of Distribution of Marijuana and having no drug tax stamp. Bond was set at 10% of $100,000. and next hearing set for August 28, 2024 at 11:00am. A condition of his bond is that the defendant must sign a waiver of extradition.
