Omaha, Neb. — A NYC man has been sentenced in Nebraska federal court for a scheme to defraud Verizon Wireless. Gregory Lorenzo will spend 5 years in prison and pay restitution of more than $528,000.

Lorenzo conspired with others to acquire stolen identities, including from at least three Nebraskans. They would then use the victims’ information to create Verizon accounts to purchase phones and accessories.

The phones were sold on the black market in New Jersey and New York. Lorenzo was the last of the conspirators to be sentenced.

The case was investigated by the Kearney Police Department and the FBI Omaha field office.
