A 32-year-old rural Lexington man faces several charges following a disturbance Tuesday evening August 13, 2024 at a residence northeast of Lexington. Law enforcement was called there around 7:13pm on a report of a man with a machete there.

As officers arrived, Christopher Born was detained while they conducted their investigation. A Nebraska State Patrol trooper recovered a machete, with a 17″ blade, that was hidden in a garage deep freezer.

After gathering several witness statements, it was determined that Born was first observed outside of their residence. An affadavit indicates there was a confrontation in the roadway. Born apparently forced his way into the residence with a machete and threatened the residents while holding it. Born would not leave the residence despite being told several times.

Born was taken into custody and booked into the Dawson County Jail by Dawson County Sheriff’s Office. On Wednesday he was arraigned in Dawson County Court on charges of Burglary, Terroristic Threats, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and 2nd Degree Criminal Trespass. His bond was set at 10% of $100,000 and an attorney was appointed to represent him. His next court hearing was set for August 26, 2024 at 11:00am.
