Lopers place fourth in Missouri

Kearney, Neb. – The Nebraska-Kearney women’s golf team carded a 36-hole total of 633 to place fourth at the annual Midwest Intercollegiate Tuesday in Bolivar, Mo.

The two-day tournament, hosted by Drury University, was held at the par 72 Silo Ridge C.C. (5,989 yards). The field also included a Loper “B” team (13th/696).

The UNK “A” team managed rounds of 320 and 313 to trail only Central Missouri (604), Rogers State (627) and Missouri Western (631). The second team (353-343) managed to beat out varsity squads from NAIA Evangel (Mo.) and D2 Truman State.

Colombian junior Juliana Botero Molina led the Lopers for a second straight tourney, coming third place with a 7-over 151 (79-72). Her second round featured three brides and 11 pars. Fort Hays State’s Morgan Brasser was the medalist (1-over 145) with UCM’s Libby Green a stroke back.

Kansas freshman Liz Lyons (T-7th/155) was the other Loper to crack the Top 20. She had rounds of 82 and 73 with her Tuesday tally being three birdies and seven straight pars on the front nine. Next, Kansas junior Brooke King (77-84) and Kansas sophomore Beth Grant (80-71) both fired a 161 to tie for 22nd place. Grant was the “B” team’s top placer with King having UNK’s low score on Monday.

Finally, Texas freshman Sofia Wildeman tied for 35th (167; 82-85), Kansas senior Allison Comer tied for 38th (168; 84-84), Arizona senior Sophia Coleman was 55th (174; 88-86), Colombian redshirt sophomore [/roster.aspx?rp_id=8677]Sofia Laserna Murra tied for 59th (175; 87-88) and Bayard senior Avery Mitchell came in 72nd (186; 98-88).

UNK’s final two regular season tourneys are in-state, first at Concordia (April 2-3) and then at Wayne (April 15-16).
