Kearney, Neb. – Junior Corynne Olsen and sophomore Jordan Renard tallied goals and sophomore Susie Bovaird had six saves to help Nebraska-Kearney down Sioux Falls, 2-1, Friday night in South Dakota.

This was the season-opener for both. UNK remains in Sioux Falls to play Minnesota-Crookston (0-1-0) on Sunday afternoon.

To improve to 3-0-1 all-time against the Cougars, the Lopers struck pay dirt just two minutes into the game. Olsen (Lincoln SE) recorded her third career goal after a teammate and USF goalie Caroline Titze collided on the left edge of the box. Olsen was there to poke the loose ball past the three USF defenders.

Midway through the second half, Renard (Lincoln NE) was Johhny on the Spot after she forced a Cougar to clear the ball deep in her own territory. However, the ball went straight to junior Kea Barnes (Aurora, Colo.) who promptly headed right back to Renard. She turned and fired for her first career goal.

While USF tallied a rebound goal 10 minutes later, Bovaird (Lincoln East) made three saves down the stretch to make UNK 1-0-0 for the fifth time in program history. Overall, the Lopers outshot the Cougs by a 13-8 margin and was plus four on corners. Finally, veteran defenders Dolcie Hanlon (Grand Junction, Colo.) and Keila Gillispie (Newton, Kan.) went all 90 minutes.
