OVERTON- Give Big Overton is a campaign which is part of the annual Give Big Lexington Day which takes place this Thursday, November 10th. The big day combines over 80 local non profit organizations to allow people the opportunity to donate to all of these great local non profits.
The Little Eagles Learning Center in Overton is looking for donations as they continue to grow in the community. This daycare center, which currently is only able to hold about 6 children, is working on expanding and moving to a new location to provide a need for the area.
“There’s been a huge need for childcare for quite some time,” said Vice President Sami Hubbard. “It’s not just for our community, but also for our surrounding communities.”
Currently, the childcare center is being held in the basement of a church, and that is a big reason as to why they are currently not able to hold more kids. The Center has recently chosen the lot they would like the new center to be, and is working to hopefully break ground soon.
“We recently purchased a lot in Overton that we hope to break ground on soon,” said Coordinator Paula Osborne. “We are hoping to expand it into a center where we can not only have school age children, but younger children as well. We are hoping to raise funds to purchase storage carts, beanbags for our reading corner, as well as activity centers that would closely align with the ones taught at Overton Public Schools.”
