OMAHA – On a perfect night for soccer, the 4th seeded Lexington Minutemen defeated the 5th seeded Elkhorn North Wolves 2-0 to advance to the state semifinals.

Lexington would jump ahead early, thanks to a great pass from Fernando Casillas to feed Jorge Zamora who had an easy tap in goal in only the first minute. From there, the Minutemen would shut things down with both teams running up and down the field, and Elkhorn North unable to get a shot off in the first half. In the second half, Lexington would once again capitalize on an early chance for a goal. Zamora got a nice feed for a wide open goal and would scored his second goal of the match in the 47th minute. Lexington did see four shots and three corners in the second half, but Elkhorn North would not find the net in the contest, with the Minutemen winning 2-0.

KRVN’s Jon Willis spoke with head coach Joel Lemus postgame.
