Lexington soccer splits at home with Falcons

Lexington- The Lexington Minutemen used a big first half and cruised to 5-0 win over Lincoln Northwest on Tuesday night. Fernando Casillas scored in the 11th minute, Alex Perez scored the first of his two goals in the 15th minute, his second came in the 29th minute and Jose Navarrete also found the back of the net for the Minutemen in the 17th minute. In the second half, Esteban Tovar scored the lone goal off a rebound. Lexington improved to 4-4 on the season and will play at Grand Island Northwest on Thursday.

In the girls game, a late PK goal gave Lincoln Northwest a 2-1 victory. A foul inside the box, resulted in Autumn Veen getting a PK that she just was able to sneak past Lexington keeper Dulce Arredondo in the 77th minute. Lexington had tied the game at one, when Maylin Novoa scored off an indirect kick off of an assist from Ariana Cabrera in the second half. Lincoln Northwest led the match at halftime 1-0 after Addie Murphy scored in the 24th minute. With the loss Lexington is now 2-4 and will play at Grand Island Northwest on Thursday.
