Lincon, Neb. — 25-year-old Leopoldo Ramirez of Lexington was sentenced Thursday in Lincoln for conspiring to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of meth and fentanyl. Ramirez will serve 11 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release.

Between at least June 2021 and October 2022, Ramirez and others were responsible for trafficking meth into the state. Local, state and federal law enforcement pieced the conspiracy together using electronic evidence, search warrants and surveillance.

The conspirators distributed over 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing meth. Ramirez’s cellphone was seized and searched. Officials found several text messages between him and his co-conspirators discussing drugs and narcotic distribution. His records indicated about 50 additional grams of meth he had personally distributed.
