Lexington man arrested in theft of cruiser

A 34-year-old Lexington man faces a Felony Theft charge in connection with a Lexington Police Department patrol unit. It occurred shortly before 1:00am Monday July 22, 2024. A Lexington Police Department officer was conducted a traffic stop in a convenience store parking lot. A Nebraska State Patrol trooper observed another Lexington Police patrol unit pull up to the traffic stop and a man got out of it.

The trooper identified the man as Russell Brogan. It was later determined that the patrol unit he was allegedly driving was taken from a dealership parking lot. It had been sold to the auto dealer.

Brogan was arraigned in Dawson County Court on Tuesday. He next court hearing was set for August 6, 2024 at 11:00am in Dawson County Court.
