Lexington high school announces coaching hires

Lexington-Lexington high school has announced new softball and volleyball coaches. Back to lead the softball program is Cassie Sund while Erica Brockmoller is returning to coach the volleyball squad. In 2015 Sund took over the Lexington softball program. She has served in many roles, including middle school science teacher, high school math teacher, and head varsity softball coach. Sund has also been assistant varsity girls soccer coach, academic coach for softball, bowling, and soccer, and is currently the Lexington Public Schools teammates coordinator. In her time at UNK, she was a 4 year starter.  Three of her four years, she earned 1st Team All conference honors at 3rd base and Utility.  Sund set the UNK Career homerun record, that still stands. Coach Sund earned her Masters Degree from UNK in 2016.

Brockmoller’s first job was teaching and coaching in Lexington in the fall of 2010. She was the head volleyball coach until the fall of 2015. At that time, she stepped away from volleyball to focus on her family and furthering her education. Brockmoller starred as a player at UNK earning all RMAC conference honors. Brockmoller has been in Lexington for fourteen years. She has served in many roles, inclucing Journalism adviser, assistant powerlifting coach, tech core team member, LEA negotiations committee, as well as a volunteer to help with events that Lexington high school hosts.
