LEXINGTON – The city of Lexington is looking back and celebrating 150 years June 28th through the 30th with many big plans. Lexington was founded back in 1874.

On Friday, they will host the Plum Creek 5K at 6 PM, and hold a melodrama at 7 PM at the Lexington Middle School Auditorium.

On Saturday there are many events. The parade in downtown Lexington will start at 10 AM. The theme of this years parade is “Paint the Town Plum,” and will wind its way through downtown to capture the history of Lexington. The family fun fest at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park going from 12-3 PM. The fun fest is free and has music, kid activities, and more. There is a Veteran’s Pavilion Dedication and Ceremony from 1-2 PM at Veteran’s Pavilion at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park. At 2 PM, speaker Jim Reisdorff will speak at the Dawson County History museum, and then a “One Book, One Lexington” event with author Carlos R. Servan will be held at 3:30 PM at the Lexington Public Library. To wrap up the day, there will fireworks at dusk at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park.

Then on Sunday, there is a melodrama at 1:30 PM at the Lexington Middle School Auditorium with a community worship service at 4 PM which will take place at Veteran’s Pavilion at Kirkpatrick Memorial Park.
