Kearney Police Department Investigates Shooting

Kearney, Neb. — A man was injured and a woman was arrested following a shooting Sunday afternoon at a midtown Kearney residence.

Kearney Police responded to 1815 7th Avenue shortly after 2:00 p.m.

Officers immediately located the suspect outside and she was taken into custody. At the same time, the victim was located inside and Officers provided emergency first aid until the scene was safe for the paramedics to enter the residence.

The suspect was identified as 56-year-old Karen Geisler of Kearney. The victim was described as a 62-year-old male from Kearney who also lives at that residence.

The victim was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital with life threatening injuries. Karen Geisler was arrested without further incident for First Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony and lodged at Buffalo County Jail.

This investigation is ongoing and KPD Investigators were continuing to process the scene Sunday night. The incident was determined to be isolated in nature and there are no additional safety concerns to the public.
