Kearney, Neb. — A Kearney High School student passed away Friday evening. Kearney High Principal Jeffrey Ganz informed students Saturday in a statement issued by email:

“We regret to inform you that Josiah (Joey) Jones, a senior at Kearney High School, died last evening from heart failure.  Counselors and members of the KPS Crisis Response Team will be available to provide support and talk with students as needed on Monday at Kearney High School.

Your child may have some questions about this or may just want to talk to you about their feelings. If you have any further concerns or needs, please feel free to contact your child’s school counselor. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.”
