BROKEN BOW – Broken Bow Public Schools announced Monday that Keaton Klimek has been named the new head boys basketball coach.

“I am excited for the opportunity to lead the Broken Bow boys basketball program,” Klimek said in a statement. “We will establish a culture and program that develops quality young men on and off the court. I am looking forward to building a program that teaches the fundamental skills as well as bringing energy required to be successful at a high level. I look forward to bringing my passion and love for the game of basketball to Broken Bow.”

Klimek is a graduate of Burwell High School and the University of Nebraska Kearney. He has spent the past seven years at Kearney High School where he was the JV coach under head coach Drake Beranek. Prior to his time in Kearney, Klimek spent one season as an assistant coach at Plainview.

“Coach Klimek came to us with very high reviews from both his hometown people in Burwell and also his current coaching staff at Kearney High School,” Broken Bow Athletic Director Jeff Ellis said. “Keaton has been under some great coaching influences during his time as an athlete himself and in particular his tenure as a boys basketball coach. He is ready to lead and put his stamp on the Broken Bow Boys basketball program as our new head coach.”

Klimek replaces Nate Olson, who announced last month he would be stepping down as coach. He will also teach math.
