Angelique Kampmann was sentenced in Dawson County District Court Friday for violation of her post release supervision. Kampmann was originally convicted on three counts of Attempted Motor Vehicle Homicide while Driving Under the Influence in the October 16, 2018 deaths of Ziera Nickerson, Donald Anderson and Karli Michael. Kampmann was driving a vehicle on a rural road near Overton when it went through a stop sign at a Highway 30 intersection on that date and was struck by another vehicle traveling on Highway 30. She was sentenced to five years imprisonment. With credit for 191 days and under the state’s good time law, Kampmann was released from prison on December 4, 2022 to Post Release Supervision for two years.

On July 5, 2023 and while she was still on Post Release Supervision, a vehicle, driven by Kampmann, was stopped in Platte County. She was issued a citation and subsequently charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Speeding in Platte County Court. That case then triggered a motion in Dawson County District Court by the Probation Office for violation of the terms of her post release supervision.

At the sentencing hearing Friday on the Post Release Supervision Violation, Chief Deputy Dawson County Attorney Garrett Goodwin said “It’s hard to imagine something that could have been more disrespectful than what Ms.Kampmann (had) done that could have been more disrespectful to the victims in this case and community safety at large.” He asked that her post release supervision be revoked and sentenced to incarceration for the maximum amount of time allowed by law.

Defense Attorney Ken Harbison noted the Platte County incident occurred 10 months ago and she has acknowledged that she “screwed up”. He said that ever since that time, Kampmann has complied with every facet of her post release supervision, maintained full-time employment and compliant with drug testing, which have all been negative. He asked the Court to continue her on post release supervision.

Speaking to the Court, Kampmann said that the Platte County incident was the result of a choice she had made. She said she knew she shouldn’t be doing what she did but, did not stop herself…”I realized I needed more help than I let on”.

After consideration of all the information, District Judge Patrick Heng sentenced Kampmann to serve one more year of Post Supervised Release. Her case in Platte County Court is still pending. She is to be sentenced on June 5, 2024 at 1:30pm.
