Broken Bow, Neb. – The Inspire Rehab Seniors are moving on in the B6 Area Tournament after a thrilling 9-8 victory over McCook on Friday. Beau Jensen sealed the game with a bases-loaded RBI single that sent Trey Weaver home. The walk-off single was Jensen’s second hit of the day and Weaver’s second run scored.

Things were a little shaky in the first few innings for Holdrege. A handful of errors helped McCook take an early 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth before Inspire Rehab turned on the offensive jets. Bergstrom led off with a double followed by a single from Trey Weaver. Two consecutive errors committed by McCook gave Holdrege a pair of runs to close the gap. A Lyndon Rodewald single and a Kegan Steinke double later in the inning gave Holdrege their first lead of the game.

McCook was able to tie the game up once again off a Simon Garcia RBI single in the top of the fifth. The inning would end on the same play for McCook, however. Quentin Terry was caught by Weaver while trying to get to third base. That would be it for a McCook offense that had been firing on all cylinders throughout the game.

Holdrege went to the plate in the bottom of the seventh with the game tied 8-8. Trey Weaver led off with a four-pitch walk. Then Nick Weides secured his second hit of the game with a brilliant bunt that died in front of the plate. He was able to reach first base with no chance of a throw from relief pitcher Simon Garcia. Josh Janssen laid down another textbook bunt to advance Weaver to third and Weides to second. Janssen was safe at first on a Garcia error. With the bases loaded and no outs, things were looking very bright for Inspire Rehab. That’s when Beau Jensen sent a scorching line drive to left field sending Weaver home for the walk-off win.

The 9-8 win sent McCook to the bottom half of the bracket where they’ll wait to play until Sunday.

Holdrege advances to the next round and will face top seeded Minden on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 pm with KUVR’s pregame coverage beginning at 3:50.
