The Holdrege Inspire Rehabilitation Seniors Legion Baseball team used a four run top of the sixth to win over the Minden First Bank Seniors 5-3 on Sunday afternoon.
Minden got things going in the bottom of the second thanks to a RBI single from Jose Cuellar. Thanks to some errors in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, Minden was able to score a run an inning through those two innings, and jumped ahead 3-0 after four innings. Holdrege was able to get on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth thanks to a RBI double from Chance Bailey. Then in the sixth, Holdrege put four runs across capped off by a two run triple from Elijah Bergstrom that tied the game and gave Holdrege a 4-3 lead. They added one more run thanks to a RBI single from Bailey and held a two run lead. Lyndon Rodewald threw just 13 pitches in the final two innings to cap off a seven inning performance to give Holdrege the 5-3 lead.
Ethan Morgan got the start for Minden and went six innings allowing five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Cuellar went 1-3 with a RBI for Minden. Rodewald went all seven innings allowing three runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Bergstrom was 1-2 with two runs and two RBI’s. Bailey was also 2-3 with two RBI’s.
The Minden Seniors fall to 11-1 and are back in action against Hi-Line on Wednesday. Holdrege improves to 10-4 and will be back in action against North Platte tomorrow. You can hear that game on KUVR 1380 AM and 96.9 FM with first pitch set for 7:30 PM.
