Holdrege Inspire Rehab Seniors Defeat Platte Valley Auto Seniors

LEXINGTON – In the second game of the season, the Holdrege Inspire Rehabilitation seniors defeated the Platte Valley Auto Lexington seniors in Lexington 12-2 in five innings.

After a slow start through the first inning, Holdrege would get their first run on a RBI single from Lyndon Rodewald. Holdrege would then score three in the third thanks to a 2 RBI singles from Elijah Bergstrom and another RBI from Rodewald, scored two in the fourth, and then exploded for six runs in the fifth thanks to four Lexington errors to get up 12-0. Lexington went hitless through the game, and only had one base runner through the first four innings. Zac Sundquist, who went four plus innings, loaded the bases on walks in the bottom of the fifth, and runs were scored by Rigo Tercero and Matthew Zarate in the fifth on fielders choices, but Holdrege held on to win 12-2 in five innings.

Sundquist got the start and the win, going four plus allowing two runs on no hits with two strikeouts and four walks. He was also 4-4 with three singles and a RBI. Both Bergstrom and Rodewald finished with two RBI’s, and every starter for Holdrege got on base at least once. Tercero got the start for Lexington, going 4.1 innings allowing 12 runs on 13 hits and one strikeout with four walks. Greysen McFarland had a nice day at catcher for Lexington, and reached base both times he was up.

The Holdrege seniors improve to 2-0 and take on McCook tomorrow, while the Platte Valley Auto Seniors fall to 0-2 and are back in action on the road at Gothenburg on Friday, and we’ll bring it to you on KAMI country and at krvn.com.
